German Reitlehrer F.N. Gerd Reuter
Gerd began his competitive career in 1973 when he rode in the German Young Rider's Championship at the age of 17 on Largo Maggiore, who went on later to compete in the USA.
In 1975, he passed his first riding teacher degree and became a "Bereiter." In 1980, he completed his "Reitlehrer FN," which allows Gerd to train other professional "Bereiters" to become " Reitlehrers."
Gerd apprenticed with Rosemarie Springer for over ten years. Rosemarie was a student of Willi Schulteiss, a distinquished Reit Meister ("Riding Master") for 25 years. During that time, she won the German Championships six times, was Reserve Champion three times and took third place three times. During Gerd's apprenticeship with Rosemarie, Willi Schulteiss's training and riding philosophy played a formative role in Gerd's life and work.
He also trained with Siegfried Peilecke, a former German Olympic team trainer and Herbert Rehbein, who was a Reit Meister.
Gerd was the Young Rider coach for the Danish Team from 1980-1984 and from 1987-1990. He was the top trainer at Hamilton Farms in Massachusetts from 1985 to 1986.
